DeLorean’s website states that the Omega 2040 concept represents a new vision of the company and the next generation DeLorean design. Although the current DeLorean is not yet in production, it is an ambitious step to look forward to 2040. The Omega’s design is rooted in Baja Racing and it is bold. It’s not an SUV, but we hesitate to call it a pickup truck because it doesn’t have a bed. It doesn’t have side windows.
During Monterey Car Week, DeLorean also displayed “old” concept cars in the form the Alpha2, Alpha3, or Alpha4. These concepts are a prelude to the Alpha5, and depict a fictional DeLorean’s history in which he never went bankrupt. The concept cars were presented as scale models, while DeLorean had full-size Omega and Plasmatail versions. This could indicate that the company is keen to continue with the Plasmatail or at least to investigate the Omega in the future.
DeLorean confirmed that the Alpha5 Plasmatail coupe will be produced in 2024, but no other details like price or production numbers have been released.
