The delivery of the Rivian R1S SUV electric vehicle to customers outside the company began in August. One has already been offered for sale. As with the R1T, these vehicles end up selling for much more than their original price.
It is a 2022 Rivian R1S launch edition in El Cap Granite with black vegan leather interior. It has 22-inch “Sport Bright” tires and the 135 kWh battery pack that can provide up to 316 miles of EPA range. The 835 horsepower quad-motor setup gives it supercar acceleration.
It is a very attractive combination with the large battery, the reinforcement underbody, and the interior and exterior colours that should increase its appeal.
The original window sticker cost $80,950. However, the highest bid on Cars and Bids has just passed $120,000. It was $119,000 just a few hours ago. And it will go up or it will end. It’s still around 50% off MSRP. This is a great deal for the seller, who hasn’t even received the title yet. The vehicle’s odometer reads only 70 miles (112km).
Rivian has focused on increasing production to meet the demand, with almost 100,000 R1T orders and R1S orders. Although it has been slow to get off the ground, Rivian still hopes to meet its 2022 production goal of 25,000 vehicles. This is despite the fact that the company only produced just under 7,000 units in the first half.
Rivian will add a second shift at its Normal, Illinois manufacturing plant to help it reach its 2022 goal. It will then continue to ramp up in order to reach the factory’s maximum output, 150,000 vehicles per annum. However, that number still seems a bit far away.
