Tesla’s futuristic Cybertruck and Roadster models are sparking much-needed interest globally, as they dominate the most searched Electric Vehicle list.
LeaseFetcher, a UK-based leasing comparison platform, used Google searches to determine the most anticipated and desired electric vehicles worldwide and in the United States. By compiling this data, they were able to create comprehensive lists of these cars for curious shoppers.
Research conducted by the company showed that, across the globe, people were eagerly anticipating the upcoming Tesla Roadster in 2022. Nearly seven million queries were made on it every month–a search volume of 580 thousand each month worldwide.
Coming in second place, the highly sought-after Tesla Cybertruck has amassed an incredible 6.6 million searches this year alone.
Fascinating statistics, especially when taking into account that the second-generation Tesla Roadster has been revealed since 2017 yet is still not in production and the same can be said for Cybertruck.
Perusing through the list, you will come across two unexpected models – Volkswagen ID. Buzz electric people carrier and Apple Car which is still in the making. This wide range of vehicles reflects the diversity of our society today.
In the US, it’s no surprise that Tesla’s Cybertruck is in a prime position as the most anticipated electric vehicle. Following closely behind is their second-gen Roadster, then GMC Hummer EV takes the third spot with Cadillac Lyriq and Apple Car rounding up the top five list.
Despite other upcoming models, Tesla’s Model 3 has come out on top once again as the world’s most sought-after electric vehicle, with 25 million searches this year alone. Trailing behind are Kia EV6 and Tesla Model Y respectively.
In the US, Tesla’s Model 3 and Y are in first and second place respectively for most desired electric vehicles, with the Ford Mustang Mach-E coming in at third. The Rivian R1T is ninth on the list, sandwiched between Porsche Taycan above it and Polestar 2 below it.
LeaseFetcher’s data reveals that the Tesla Model 3 has maintained its title as the most sought-after EV on a regional level since 2021.
