Fisker Surpasses 50,000 Reservations for Fisker Ocean
Fisker has announced that it has surpassed 50,000 reservations for its electric SUV, Ocean.
Fisker charges $250 for each first reservation of the Ocean EV, with a 10% administration and processing fee if the reservation is canceled prior to entering the purchase or lease agreement.
The first reservation is fully refundable. The second reservation is fully refundable if it is canceled at any time prior to the purchase or flexible lease agreement.
Fisker cannot guarantee that all 50,000 reservations will result in orders. Although impressive, the number helps the EV startup get people talking about its first production model.
Fisker Ocean will begin production on November 17, 2022, at Magna Steyr's carbon-neutral factory in Graz, Austria. The Fisker Ocean One will be the first model to be produced, with a limited run of 5,000 units planned.
Electric SUVs in the United States in the base Sport trim are priced at $37,499 before incentives, and it is eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit, which means customers can purchase them for $30,000.
With a single motor and front-wheel drive system, Fisker estimates a driving range of 250 miles (402 kilometers) based on EPA standards. It uses a lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery pack with an undisclosed storage capacity.
Despite the current rate of inflation and global market pressures in logistics and commodity costs, Fisker said it cannot guarantee that prices will remain unchanged for orders placed after the 40,000 reservation number or for vehicles produced in 2024 and beyond.
