In just over a month since Rivian began manufacturing electric vehicles, mainly the R1T pickup truck, the company announced that it has made over 1,000 of them.
Over 1,200 vehicles were to be produced (1,200 R1T, 25 R1S and 10 EDV), and over 1,000 were to be delivered (1,001 R1T, 15 R1S and 10 EDV). This is a small miss, which was already announced in December.
Currently, Rivian is ramping up production of three vehicles at once. As of December 15, 2021, there were about 71,000 pre-orders (in the U.S. and Canada) (up from 48,390 on September 30).
Up to 400,000 units per year are planned for this plant at some point in the future, compared to 200,000 in Normal, Illinois (once the site has been upgraded from 150,000 currently).
