The thread started on Rivian Forums by a Launch Edition R1S reservation holder shows a letter dated June 11 that includes an updated delivery window of October–December 2022 for the Launch Edition R1S.

Others confirmed receiving similar letters, with most forum users estimating delivery dates as October–December 2022.

According to the posts on the board, the delays range from one month to nine months, with most users seeing their estimated delivery dates pushed back from March or April 2022.

Preorder holders of R1S were informed of shorter delays, from April–May 2022 to August–September 2022. There are also Rivian R1S reservation holders who have not received delivery date updates

These delivery delays apply to existing reservations, some of which date back to December 2018. The Rivian website lists deliveries starting in late 2023 for new preorders.

According to the company's website, there are 19 service centers in 14 states, mostly on the East and West Coasts, so a lot of territory isn't covered.

Towards the end of 2021, Rivian informed R1S reservation holders that their vehicles would begin arriving in March 2022, although it noted that most of the first wave of deliveries would occur during the summer and autumn of that year.
