Volkswagen Adds ID.4 Pro 4Motion As Sub-GTX AWD Variant

Volkswagen needed a non-GTX version of the ID.4 with all-wheel drive, and the ID.4 Pro 4Motion was introduced to the range in Europe.

With two motors, it generates 261 horsepower (compared with 299 horsepower on the GTX) and costs from €49,020 in Germany (around €1,400 less than the GTX).

As a result, it accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) seven tenths slower than the GTX, achieving the sprint in 6.9 seconds.

As with the ID.4 GTX, its top speed is 180 km/h (112 mph), which is higher than the rear-wheel drive models' 160 km/h (99 mph).

This version of the ID.4 Pro 4Motion is not intended for performance car enthusiasts, but for those who may need to tow something and who may be inclined to take the vehicle off-road.

With a towing capacity of 1,400 kg (3,087 pounds), it has 200 kg (440 pounds) more towing capacity than the ID.4 Pro RWD, and with traction provided by the front motor, it should be less prone to getting stuck off-road.

This new version (that isn't a whole lot cheaper than the GTX) will make the ID.4 even more desirable. As a model, it’s been doing really well,

with 163,000 vehicles delivered around the world in 2021 and an expected increase in that number this year.
