Yamaha announced a new electric scooter using Gogoro's swappable batteries just hours after an announcement of big funding.

Yamaha has certainly never built a bike like this before, from the futuristic body panels straight up the fork to the stacked headlights and even the afterburner tail lights.

Although the company hasn't listed complete specifications for the vehicle, it has revealed that it runs on a 7.6 kW mid-mounted motor.

Yamaha's new electric scooter carries a really striking design called the Yamaha EMF. Combined Braking System (CBS) brakes with four pistons help the scooter

Yamaha claims an acceleration time of 3.5 seconds to reach 50 km/h (31 mph). The company hasn't yet revealed the scooter's top speed.

It appears to include a cup holder as well as room for small items, but does not look like it locks when in the closed position.

There are GoStations strategically placed throughout cities so riders can swap in a fresh battery when there's run out. Each GoStation contains dozens of batteries.
